HMC management to merge with Parkway
Published 4:17pm Wednesday, September 1, 2010A merger of the management staffs at Hartselle Medical Center and Parkway Medical Center means the loss of the leadership positions at the local facility.
The CEO and CFO positions at Hartselle Medical Center are being eliminated and will be consolidated with Parkway Medical Center. Both hospitals are owned by Capella Healthcare.
In an official statement, Tim McGill, Chief Executive Officer, Parkway and Hartselle Medical Centers, and Mark Medley, President, American Division of Capella Healthcare, said “Hartselle Medical Center and Parkway Medical Center have been sister hospitals for many years. Serving a similar region, we have always looked for ways the two hospitals could work more closely together to improve the healthcare delivery system in Morgan County. With healthcare reform now compelling hospitals to operate smarter and even more efficiently, working together is more vital than ever.”
McGill and Danny Crowe will serve as CEO and CFO, respectively, for both hospitals.
The move will not affect Mitzi Pouncey, who will continue her role as Chief Nursing Officer at Hartselle Medical Center.
Current HMC CEO Butch Naylor will remain in Hartselle for 90 days to help with the transition. Rodney VanDonkelaar, who has served as Hartselle’s CFO since 2008, recently accepted a promotion, moving to sister hospital Grandview Medical Center in Jasper, TN, as CFO.

I sure hope this is a good decision for all. And hope to many changes will not take place. Both hospitals are very good hospitals. And Hartselle needs to have a Excellent place to go if needed. Parkway has a excellent ranking and hope this will continue in the future. And maybe Hartselle’s hospital can be put on a higher standing with these changes. As the people in Hartselle sure want to have
an excellent hospital nearby to go for their Emergencies as well. Not to have to go to Huntsville or Birmingham if more
services are needed.
