Researcher earns genealogical award

Louise Milam Julich received the 2010 Elbert Minter Award presented by the Morgan County Genealogical Society.  The award goes each year to someone who has done outstanding work in genealogy.
Julich is a talented researcher and writer and has helped many people with their genealogical research in north Alabama.  After retirement from Redstone Arsenal, she worked for the Hartselle Enquirer, Decatur Daily and Decatur Free Press.   She wrote a column titled Southern Kinfolks (A Column of History and Genealogy) for seven years.  A lot of information came from original sources such as the Morgan County and Lawrence County marriages, wills, probate records, deed books, cemetery records, Bible records and queries from out-of-town people looking for their ancestors.  She did research for many people on their ancestors in north Alabama.
Julich researched and wrote a wonderful book on Revolutionary War Soldiers in Alabama, which contains information on every soldier in the Revolutionary War that lived at any time in Alabama.  This is a wonderful resource for anyone researching their Revolutionary War ancestor.
Julich will be 99 years old on Jan. 1, 2011, and although confined to a wheelchair, she is very alert, and resides in an assisted living facility.  The Morgan County Genealogical Society is pleased to honor her with the 2010 Elbert Minter Award.
