John Calvin Schofield

Funeral for John Calvin Schofield, 79, of Valhermoso Springs will be Friday, January 28, at 2 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church with the Revs. Melvin Brown and Tim Patrick officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Valhermoso Holiness Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 27, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Mr. Schofield died Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born November 9, 1931, in Baldwin County to Franklin Schofield and Olive May Hood Schofield. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Constance Sue Schofield and two brothers, David Schofield and Franklin Schofield.

He is survived by his wife, Magdalene Schofield; two sons, Larry Calvin Schofield of Mussign, Tenn., Ira Warren Giddeons of Somerville; six daughters, Penny Rae Schofield, Linda Sue Glascow and Carol Lovelady, Dawanna Gay Schofield of Decatur, Jackie Glorine Smith of Ryan and Nancy Joy Downes of Covington, Ga.; two brothers, Harland Schofield of High Springs, Fla. and Clifford Schofield of Leesburg, Fla.; a sister, Asalene Brown of High Springs, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Glassco, Jesse Glassco, Clint Massey, Brian Shamblian, Brandon Johnson and Chad Jennings.

Honorary pallbearers will be Corey Dale Drake and Tennis Maxwell.
