James Mize Garrison

Funeral for James Mize Garrison, 97, of Hartselle was Sat., Feb. 25, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Redmond officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Moss Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Garrison died Thur., Feb. 23, 2012, at his residence. He was born July 14, 1914, in Lawrence County to Jerome Lonzo Garrison and Bessie Cynthia Singleton Garri-son. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Hartselle since 1931. He retired from NASA after 31 years of service as a mechanical engineering technician. He was a member of Nunn-Oden Lodge #398 F&AM and Cahaba Shrine. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wynola Harvel Garrison; three brothers, Dennis Garrison, Marshall Garrison and Arthur “Sonny” Garrison; and two sisters, Gladys Breedlove and Beatrice Garrison.

He is survived by three daughters, Shirley Day and husband Gerald of Somerville, Judy Smith and husband Doug of Lester and Nancy Looney and husband Bobby of Hartselle; a brother, Bobby Garrison of Waterford, Mich.; three sisters, Lydia Tyler of Hartselle, Carrie Lee Thompson of Springhill, Tenn. and Francis Jenkins of St. Joe, Mich.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Wade McCutcheon, Boyce McCutcheon, Wesley McCutcheon, Shane Bryan, Garrison Lemmond, Tim Burns, Lea Smith and William Day.
