Graduations begin tonight

Hartselle area high schools will award diplomas to approximately 600 seniors during graduation exercises, which are scheduled this week.

Hartselle High and Falkville High will lead the way Monday, May 21, with graduations starting at 7 p.m. Brewer will follow at 7:30 p.m. the same day.

On Tuesday, May 22, graduation exercises are scheduled at Danville and Priceville High Schools, both beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Bethel Baptist School will award diplomas Thursday, May 24, at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Hartselle High School

Hartselle High School will conduct graduation exercises for the 203 members of its 2012 senior class Monday, May 21, at 7 p.m. in J.P. Cain Stadium.

Superintendent Dr. Mike Reed will welcome family members and friends of the graduates and Principal Jeff Hyche will recognize members of the class who achieved a cumulative 4.0 or better GPA during their high school careers and present each with a medallion.

Two members of the class will have speaking parts on the program. They are Megan Smith, the class member with the highest GPA, and Julie Anderson, class president. In addition, the school chorus will present a song.

Principal Hyche will present diplomas with the assistance of other school staff members.

Brewer High School

Graduation exercises will be conducted for the approximately 196 members of Brewer High School’s 2012 senior class Monday, May 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the football stadium. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the school’s main gym.

Recognition will be given to students who maintained a cumulative 4.0 or better GPA during their high school careers and Principal Jeremy Childers will present diplomas to graduates.

Bethel Baptist School

Bethel Baptist School will conduct graduation exercises Thursday, May 24, at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Jeremy Nason, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Decatur will be the guest speaker.

Principal Janice Wells will present diplomas to the two members of the 2012 senior class.

Danville High School

Graduation exercises will be conducted at Danville High School Tuesday, May 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Smith-Owens football stadium, weather permitting.

The program will include speeches by Valedictorian Raven Knowlton and Salutatorian Cristin Hall. Counselor Carol Terry will recognize recipients of scholarships and awards.

Principal Gilmer Ellis will present diplomas to the 67 members of the senior class. He will be assisted by Assistant Principal Gary Couey.

Falkville High School

Graduation exercises at Falkville High School will be Monday, May 21, at 7 p.m. in Drake Gymnasium.

The program will include speeches by Valedictorian Lydia Urick and Salutatorian Kaylene Simmons. Seniors receiving scholarships and special awards will be recognized by Ken James, counselor.

Principal Sue Wood will present diplomas to the 47 members of the 2012 senior class. She will be assisted by Keith Wilemon, assistant principal.

Priceville High School

Priceville High School will conduct graduation exercises Tuesday, May 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium.

James Henderson, a retired military officer, will be the key speaker. Valedictorian Clint Livingston and Salutatorian Michael Varner will also give speeches.

The 105 members of the senior class will receive diplomas from Principal Mark Mason. He will be assisted by Dennis Morris, assistant principal.
