Hartselle’s Jones promoted to lieutenant in DPD
Published 10:20am Friday, June 29, 2012The promotion of Chris Jones of Hartselle from sergeant to lieutenant was one of the highlights of an awards and commissioning ceremony conducted by Decatur Police Department at the Turner-Surles Community Center on Thursday afternoon.
Decatur Police Chief Ed Taylor described Jones as “an extremely competent supervisor who is already serving in the role of a lieutenant.
“We look to him as one of the leaders who will move our department forward in the years ahead,” he pointed out.
A 17-year veteran Decatur police officer, Jones was pinned by his father, Tommy Jones and congratulated by fellow officers.
He is attached to the patrol division.
Jones and his wife Jennifer have two sons, Hayden, 14, and Grant, 12, and make their home in Hartselle. His parents are Tommy and Nancy Jones.
Jones was one of three officers to receive promotions. In addition, 17 new police officers received badges and repeated the oath of office, which was administered by Chief Taylor.
