HPD to enforce fireworks prohibitionPublished 11:28am Tuesday, July 3, 2012
Officials with the Hartselle Police Department said they will be enforcing its ordinance outlawing the possession, sale or discharge of fireworks inside the city limits.
Below is a copy of the ordinance:
Sec. 62-6- Discharge, storage, possession, and sale of fireworks.
It shall be unlawful for any person to shoot, fire, set off, ignite or discharge any fireworks of any nature whatsoever within the municipal limits of the city.
It shall be unlawful to store, possess, sell or offer to sell or otherwise distribute any fireworks of any nature whatsoever within the municipal limits of the city.
Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished in accordance with the provisions of § 1-7 of the Code.
(Ord. No. 1031, §§ 1—3, 7-13-1999)
While there are restrictions in Hartselle, there are no such restrictions in unincorporated areas just outside Hartselle city limits. All the fireworks stands in and around Hartselle are in areas that have not been annexed into the city limits.
