Six running for Falkville offices

Matt Stiles qualified for re-election to Place 3 on the Falkville Town Council on Tuesday morning, bringing the total to six the number of candidates vying for offices in the upcoming August 28 Municipal Election.

Stiles has served on the council for three terms.

Bob Ramey, a former council member, was an early qualifier for the Falkville mayor’s position on July 3. Place 1 Councilman Lance Stidham qualified as his opponent on Friday.

Mayor Jimmie Walker has indicated he does not plan to seek reelection.

Benny Weaver and Bobby Roy Jr. both newcomers to politics, qualified on Thursday and Friday, respectively, as candidates for Town Council, Place 1.

Incumbent David Carroll qualified on Monday for reelection

The mayor’s office and five council seats are up for election. Qualifying will continue at the City Clerk’s office from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays, through July 17.
