Man found dead at accident scene

Roy Rogers Irvin, 73, of Somerville was found dead in his wrecked pickup truck on Tues., July 24, on West Point Road in Union Hill, a short distance from his home.

Irvin was found behind the steering wheel of his late model pickup not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead by Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn.

Chunn said the truck ran off the road and crashed into a creek bank.

“He (Irvin) was either already dead or suffering from cardiac problems when the wreck occurred,” Chunn said.

The incident occurred less that a quarter of a mile from Irvin’s driveway. He was pulling a trailer loaded with a lawn mower.
