A graveside service for James Timothy “Tim” Dunlap, 60, of Falkville will be Sat., Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. at Union Hill Cemetery with Matt Nail officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be Fri., Aug. 17, from 5-8 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.
Tim Dunlap died on Wednesday morning, Aug. 15, 2012, at home after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born, Aug. 7, 1952, in Decatur to James Harold Dunlap and Margaret Aline Russell Dunlap. Tim was a retired school teacher, who taught at Brewer High School in Morgan County and Lincoln County High School in Tennessee. He taught trainable mentally handicapped (TMH) students for 30 years. He was founder of Terrell Industries Sheltered Workshop in Hartselle. He also served as a longtime member of the Community Watch Program in the Gandys Cove community. Tim was a graduate of Decatur High School and received his Master’s in education at the University of North Alabama. After his retirement from the school system, he focused on caring for his three grandchildren and enjoyed caring for the cattle on his family farm.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hannah Dunlap of Falkville; two daughters, Maebec Dunlap Halbrooks and husband Chad of Falkville and Alyson Dunlap Ellis and husband Scott of Hartselle; three grandchildren, Darby Kate Eillis, Reese Ann Ellis and Maggie Mae Halbrooks; his parents, James Harold “Buddy” Dunlap and Margaret Aline Russell Dunlap; two brothers, Mike Dunlap and Jeff Dunlap and wife Debbie, all of Decatur; a sister, Lisa Dunlap Albert and husband John of Decatur.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Sam Albert, Clint Dunlap, Jonathan Dunlap, Jack Albert, and sons-in-law, Scott Ellis, and Chad Halbrooks.
The family would also like to express our deepest gratitude to Hospice of North Alabama and to Amanda who provided excellent care.
