Hartselle youth football season started Saturday

Six youth football teams from Hartselle are participating in the Tennessee Valley Youth Football League, which kicked off its season on Saturday.

Hartselle is fielding six teams: ages 5-6, ages 7-8 (two teams), ages 9-10 (two teams) and ages 11-12. Each team has 20 to 25 players and a cheerleading squad, with 68 girls participating.

Other league teams represent Buckhorn, Hazel green, Madison County, Monrovia, Scottsboro, Sparkman and New Hope.

Hartselle will host games at the Sparkman Park field on Sept 8, Sept. 15 and Oct. 13. Its teams will also observe homecoming on Sept. 22 and will play in J.P. Cain Stadium.
