Hartselle throttles Lawrence County
Published 11:59pm Friday, September 7, 2012Tyler Phillips and the Hartselle defense give the Tiger offense a hard time during practice.
He and his teammates are always trying to strip the ball away. When they’re successful, the offensive players will have to pay the price.
“They don’t like us too much in practice because we’re always going after the ball,” Phillips said, “because if they fumble, they got to do some up-and-downs. That’s just what we do – go after the ball.”
That practice paid off for Hartselle (2-0, 1-0) against Lawrence County (1-1, 0-1). The top-ranked Tigers recovered three Red Devil fumbles on its way to a 57-0 rout.
Phillips had one of those recoveries along with his teammates Zac Pershin and Charleston Williams.
Even with the big win, head coach Bob Godsey said continues to preach to his team about the need to improve every day, every game and every snap – regardless of who the next opponent is.
