Director Edd Balch and a cast of 15 actors from College Street Players are bringing a first ever Broadway musical to Hartselle.

“Give My Regards to Broadway,” a two-act play, based on a book by Shubert Fendrich and music and lyrics by George M. Cohan, will be presented at Hartselle Fine Arts Center Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 13 at 2 and 7 p.m.

The show takes place in a theater on 42nd Street in New York City.

Rehearsals for a musical grind to a halt when the producer runs out of money and a frantic search is launched to find someone with deep pockets to bail out the production. An unexpected source of revenue comes to the rescue and rehearsals continue. However, more bumps in the road surface when competition among the actors for all-star status gets out of hand.

A war scene in the second act, complete with soldiers firing at the enemy from their foxholes, brings the production to an unforgettable conclusion.
