Escaped inmate caught in Mississippi
An Eva inmate who escaped the Morgan County Jail on Sunday has been arrested in Biloxi, Miss., following a traffic stop.
Randall Roy Jones, 51, of Eva is in jail in Biloxi, Miss., facing several misdemeanor charges. Extradition orders have already been filed for by Morgan County, where he will face charges of escape second degree, theft of property first degree, theft of property third degree and burglary third degree.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said he had been in the Morgan County Jail since June 2011. He was a trustee in the jail and had been assigned to a maintenance detail at the jail.
About 10:30 a.m. Sunday, the suspect fled his work detail and departed the jail on a red bicycle, according to security camera footage. He wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes, which investigators believe he may have obtained while working with Morgan County Area Transportation System last week.
Decatur Police had filed a report for burglary and theft at the MCATS office, in which a gold 2011 Ford Escape bearing the tag number 38804CO was stolen.
A multi-state bulletin was issued, listing both the vehicle and Jones. The suspect was stopped in the stolen vehicle by Biloxi (Miss.) Police Department during a traffic stopped, according to a press release.
