Hall wins mayor’s race, Roberson, Doss elected to council

Don Hall will be the new mayor of Hartselle on Nov. 5 after he defeated Johnnie Howell 55 percent to 45 percent in the Hartselle municipal runoff Tuesday.

He won the election by more by the totals 1,257-1,024. Howell shook hands with Hall after the results were announced to the crowd at city hall Tuesday night.

Hall thanked his supporters during the campaign and is ready to get to work for the city. As his first act, he plans to meet with all of the city employees after he takes office in just under four weeks. He is also ready to continue negotiations with Huntsville Hospital to attract a medical facility to the former Hartselle Medical Center.

“I’d like to set up a meeting with Huntsville Hospital to express our interest in having an emergency care facility here at Hartselle Medical Center,” Hall said.

In Council Place 3, Mike Roberson defeated Glenn McGann by collecting 58 percent to 42 percent. Roberson had 1,269 votes compared to 917 for McGann.

In Council Place 5, Ken Doss easily defeated Franklin D. Turney 65 percent to 35 percent. Doss had the most votes with 1,420 votes compared to just 760 for Turney.
