Marie Patterson Garlington

Funeral for Marie Patterson Garlington, 87, of Nashville, Tenn., will be Thur., Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Patterson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thur., Oct. 11, from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Garlington died on Tues., Oct. 9, 2012, at Homewood Residence Assisted Living, Nashville, Tenn. She was born June 22, 1925, in Morgan County to Mack M. Patterson and Hattie (Entrekin) Patterson. Mrs. Garlington was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Hartselle. During World War II, while in Boise Idaho, she was a “Rosie Riveter”. She owned ‘Stockton’s for Beauty’ Salon. She created a nationally known line skin care products. With her passion for gardening, she was a member of many garden clubs. She was a member of Toast Mistress, and was loved by all her 1945 MCHS Classmates.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Stockton and John K. Selens; a son, Kenneth Stockton; a daughter, Linda Stockton Boyer; and her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Garlington of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughter, Memory (Stockton) Smith of Decatur and Marybeth Stockton of Nashville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
