ADDISON – Falkville’s Blue Devils (6-1),(5-1) came up short at Addison Friday night, falling 20-12.

“We had too many missed-opportunities. We didn’t capitalize when we should have,” said head coach Joel Schrenk. “We probably should have scored two or three more touchdowns in the first quarter. We’ve all got to do a better job of finishing when the defense puts us in a good situation.”

Falkville was first to get on the board with 7:29 on the clock in the first quarter. After holding the Bulldogs to a three-and-out on defense, Hunter Woodall returned a punt 66 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was blocked, giving the Blue Devils the early 6-0lead.

Less than six minutes later, Jake Wade for Addison found himself in the end zone on a two-yard run. Addison’s extra point was also blocked, bringing the score 6-6.

On a 12-play drive with 4:57 to play in the half, the Blue Devils scored again on a two-yard quarterback keeper from Aaron Estes. FHS tried for a two-point conversion, but failed. Falkville led at the half 12-6.

After a short punt allowing great field position, Addison started at the Falkville 20-yard line. Frankey Melson scores on a five-yard carry after a three-play drive. Kaleb Estill added the PAT sending the score 13-12.

A Falkville interception set up the next score for Addison. With 6:09 in the fourth quarter, Melson managed a six-yard carry for a touchdown after a four-play drive, and Estill’s PAT was true, giving Addison the eight-point advantage.

Aaron Estes would finish the game 19 of 23 with one interception for 103 yards.
