“I was pleased with the way we ran,” said head coach Kenneth Lopez. “Two of our goals was to win the county championship and finish well in the Northwest Invitational. Some of our runners really stepped up and performed the way they needed to. This was probably the best we’ve done in the Northwest Invitational.”
“We’re kinda banged up,” he added, “so we’ll focus on getting rested and well this week, and getting mentally focused on the upcoming sectional meet.”
Competing against 18 teams in the Northwest championships, Hartselle boys came in sixth. Davis finished 14th, Paulsen 19th, Barrett 44th and Wilt 53rd.
In the girl’s division, Hartselle finished fourth among 17 teams. Barnett came in 14th while Bowling finished 28th, Pittman 36th and Davis 41st.
Hartselle will compete in the sectionals in Florence on Friday. The top three teams will advance to the state meet as well as the top six individuals runners on teams that do not make the state meet.
