New Falkville mayor, Council assume office
A new mayor, two new council members and three holdover council members assumed office in Falkville after they were sworn in by Town Attorney Larry Madison Monday night.
Bob Ramey follows in the footsteps of Mayor Jimmie Walker, who opted not to seek re-election after serving two terms as mayor.
Newcomer councilmen are Brandon Dillard, Place 1; and Charlie Gover, Place 3. Holdover Councilmen are Alton Hill, Place 2; David Carroll, Place 4; and Ken Winkles, Place 5.
“I look forward to having a great administration,” Ramey stated. “We’ll work together to improve the city in every way we can. We want to make Falkville a place where people will love to live.”
The first act of the governing body was to elect Carroll as mayor pro tem and appoint committee chairs as follow: Carroll, Finance/ Cemetery; Dillard, Utilities/ Library; Winkles, Police/ Streets; Hill, Fire/Sanitation; and Gover, Parks/Park & Recreation.
The council also:
•Approved continued employment of all administrative officers and employees on a temporary basis.
• Approved Cadence Bank as depository for municipal funds.
•Appointed Ramey as utilities superintendent.
•Set Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. as the first regular meeting.
•Approve mayor, mayor pro tem and town clerk as signers on all town accounts.
