Fellow firefighters respond to FDs struck by Sandy

All Alabama firefighters are asked to please assist the 6 fire stations that have been destroyed on the South Shore of Long Island; however it is still not known how many stations in Suffolk County have been damaged. Our brothers and sisters need us to take action immediately to help them get back to business. Some of the equipment that came to Alabama in the aftermath of the April 27 tornadoes came from the fire stations there that are now damaged.

Let’s step up and lend a helping hand to our fellow firefighters in Long Island. The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund is requesting that donations be sent to assist these departments. If you or your department would like to make a donation, all of the money will be used to assist the firefighters and their departments. For more info about how to make a donation, contact Spruce McRee, director of Alabama Chapter Terry Farrell Fund at 205-908-3850 or email tvmcree@gmail.com; Larry Jarvis, 205-799-4152, ljarvis@alabamafirecollege.org; Reid Vaughan, 205-499-6905, chief@-cubafiredept.org.

The Alabama Chapter will be collecting donations from Alabama firefighters and fire departments and will forward every penny of the money to the National Chapter to assist the affected departments.

The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund was established in memory of Terry Farrell, a decorated member of FDNY Rescue 4 and Chief of the Dix Hills (Long Island) Volunteer Fire Depart-ment, who, along with 342 of his brothers, perished on Sept 11, 2001, in the attack on the World Trade Center. The fund assists firefighters and their families with educational, medical, and equipment needs in their time of need.

The Terry Farrell fund directly supports firefighters who serve their communities and have a stellar reputation. It also provides donated useable fire equipment and related items to help departments in urgent need, so they can get back to serving their communities.

The Terry Farrell fund is operated predominately by firefighters along with friends of the fund and operates on a volunteer basis in order to give back to the firefighters.

If you have any equipment to donate, please call 516-783-1996, 516-840-8839 or e-mail at terryfund@terryfund.org.
