Danville girls win big over Hanceville

Danville used a suffocating defense along with balanced scoring to defeat Hanceville 61-12 in area play Friday night.

The Lady Hawks (10-3, 2-1) built a 52-7 lead through the first three quarters, including a 22-0 burst in the third quarter, and cruised to the win.

Sydni Shelton and Gracie George were the only players in double figures with 12 and 10 respectively. Tabetha Hutto added nine while Charlee Anderson had eight points and Andrea Carter scored five.

Connor Lindsey, Crystal Carter, Erin Cleghorn and Sloan Lindsey all had three points each. Jesse Oliver and Jada Harris had two each and Kellee Stiles added a free throw and led the team with four rebounds. Oliver, George and Andrea Carter all had three rebounds each. Tuck and Hutto had three assists each while Oliver, Shelton and Hutto all had three steals each.

Mariah Tilley led Hanceville with seven.

The Lady Hawks will play at West Morgan Tuesday.
