Life is good, even in a whirlwind

2012 seems like it just moved in and now it is on the way out. We have apparently missed the Mayan end of the world problem. We have celebrated Christmas, and now we are looking to bid farewell to another year.

2012 has been a good year overall for my family and me. My wife, sons and I have been healthy. We have been able to take a couple of trips together as a family, and I got to go back to Cocoa Beach, one of my favorite places to visit.

I have watched Jordan and Jacob grow into fine young men that I am very proud of. Both are on track to finish degrees in fields that I know both will excel in. They both have an active social life and are involved in extracurricular activities that will help them grow and be great contributors to society. Lynn and I have celebrated 26 years together as a married couple and have known each other for almost 40 years. She has and continues to have a great career with NASA, winning her third award as the NASA/MSFC Technical Support Person of the year. She is a great wife, mother, and friend to many.

I have been blessed with a great group of people to work with here at the Enquirer. We have had a good year, publishing a good newspaper and magazine that we hope our readers enjoy and that brings in customers to our advertisers. Everyone here takes great pride in their work and always does their best to publish the best media products we possibly can. We also strive to promote town and our build up the community that we all love and want to see continue to grow.

I am blessed with a great church family at Hartselle First United Methodist; enjoy working with Hartselle Kiwanis, Hartselle Fine Arts Center, Historical Society and the new Alumni Association. I have made many friends through these associations and appreciate and enjoy being a part of them. Any time that you are able to work with a group, especially groups such as those mentioned above, the great times and experiences that you have are truly a blessing.

The only thing I might ask for would be for Auburn to have a better season next year, 3- 9 . . . not so much fun. But War Eagle anyway!

Life is good and I am blessed, much more than I deserve. Here’s to another trip around the sun.
