BBES names spelling bee winner

Andrew Ekema was named winner of a Spelling Bee at Barkley Bridge Elementary School following a long competition.

Fourth and fifth graders competed. A fifth grader, Ekema correctly spelled the word “faux” to come out on top in the competition.

Kalisa Barnett, also a fifth grader, was the runner-up winner.

Ekema will represent BBES in the Morgan County Spelling Bee on Feb. 7.
