Traffic stop leads to woman’s arrest

A traffic stop at the intersection of Hwy. 36 East and Double Creek Road in Lacey’s Spring on Sun., Dec. 30, led to the arrest of a woman on drug-related charges.

Morgan County Drug Task Force agents charged Michelle Lyn Cherry. 28, with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after sheriff’s deputies discovered a baggy containing ICE (a form of methamphetamine) in the vehicle she was driving, according to Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin. An 11-year-old child was a passenger in the vehicle.

Deputies and MCDTF agents went to the child’s residence and conducted a welfare check in order to ensure the child was in no danger and the living conditions were acceptable. The child was placed in the care of his father.

Cherry was released from Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $2,800 bond.
