HHS track team names top finishers

Hartselle High School’s indoor track team competed at the Martin Luther King Classic at the Birmingham Crossplex on Saturday with several team members finishing among the top competitors.

In the girls division, Alex Morris came in 17th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 11:76.

Ivy Buchanan finished 71st in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:03.53 and 53rd in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 6:52.85; and Jessica Hickerson came in 80th in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:07.30

In addition, the girls 4×800 relay team finished in 6th place with a combined time of 112:15.55.

Hunter Grantland paced Hartselle’s boys division by finishing 11th in the 60-yard dash in a field of 126 runners. His time was 7:28.

Others high finishers in the boys division were: James Glenn, 11th place in the shot put with a distance of 41-5.5; Steven Cleek, 26th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54:34; John Paulsen, 79th in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:01.36; Alex Wilt, 35th in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:15; and Evan Root, ninth in high jump with a height of 5-2.

Hartselle also came in 14th in the 4×200 relay and 13th in the 4×400 relay.

Hartselle’s next meet will be in the state finals at the Birmingham Crossplex Feb. 1-2.
