Lady Pats take another step, win county title

Danville coach Paul Wilson knew his team was going to have an uphill climb, with his team that includes eighth grade point guard Tara Tuck and mostly ninth and 10th graders. Senior Sloan Lindsey is the only player left from the 2011 team.

“Brewer had a job to do and they did it tonight,” Wilson said. “Three of my starters were playing in the middle school tournament last year while Brewer’s five starters were playing in the 5A state championship in Birmingham.”

Wilson praised his team’s growth over the season. In fact, Saturday’s loss was the first loss in nearly one month.

“If we go until Feb. 24 before losing another game, that means we will have gone a long way in the playoffs,” Wilson said.

Other members of the all-tournament team are as follows:

• From Falkville: Sydney Moore, Amanda Muse and Elizabeth Davis.

• From Priceville: Jada Beverly and Emilee Cunningham.

• From West Morgan: Sydney Sanders.

• From Danville: Sydni Shelton and Tabetha Hutto.

• From Hartselle: Quanesha Burk, Sarah Horner and Allie Roden.
