HHS freshmen win county championship
“Our quickness made a big difference,” said Hartselle head coach Tim Miller. “We shot the ball well early and played good defense with the exception of the run they made late in the game. We realized going in that we needed to keep them out of rhythm on offense and we were able to do that for the most part.
The Tigers closed out the game by converting five of six free throw attempts.
“I’m proud of this team for working hard and continuing to improve as the season progressed,” Miller stated. “They played their best basketball the last three games and achieved their goal of winning the only tournament they played in.”
Seth Malcolm was a workhorse for the Tigers, scoring a game-high 19 points. He had three treys and converted four of five free throw attempts at the end. Jake Tiffin followed with 11 points and Hayden Bradford and Jaxon Peebles contributed seven and six points, respectively.
Isiah Moore led Danville in scoring with 11 points. Brandon McCormick and Eric Orr each had six points and Hunter Fulgham had five.
