Funeral for Estelle Clevenger, 93, of Titusville, Fla., will be Sat., Feb. 2, at at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen, Tenn., at 10 a.m. with the Rev. L. J. Hatcher officiating.
A graveside service will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen, Tenn., on Fri., Feb. 1, from 2:00 until 9:00 p.m. with Family Hour from 7 to 8 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Sat., Feb. 2.
Mrs. Clevenger died Mon., Jan. 28, 2013, in Titusville, Fla. She was born Winnie Estelle Hatcher on Sept. 3, 1919, in McEwen, Tenn. to Charlie and Effie Greenwell Hatcher.
For many years, Mrs. Clevenger worked as cafeteria manager for the high school in Hendersonville, Tenn., where her husband was the principal. After his retirement, they moved back to McEwen and established residence on Deer Creek. After the death of her husband in 1998, Mrs. Clevenger moved to Titusville, Fla., where she enjoyed working outdoors. She cleared an overgrown area behind her neighborhood, planted flowers and installed benches and tables to make a small park. The entire neighborhood enjoyed the area and honored Mrs. Clevenger by naming it Estelle Park.
Mrs. Clevenger was an active church member and enjoyed cooking. She delighted in combining these. While living in Hendersonville, she was a member of First Baptist Church. After retiring from the high school cafeteria, she continued to use her cooking skills to provide fellowship meals at the church. She continued to prepare and serve fellowship meals after moving back to McEwen and joining Oak Grove Baptist Oak ing Oak Grove Baptist Church. She never moved her church member when she moved to Titusville but was active and helped with meals at First Baptist Church in Titusville. She was famous for her yeast rolls. She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Clevenger Jr.; a son, Charles Clevenger; a brother, Howard Hatcher; and a sister, Glennis Thompson.
She is survived by one daughter, Gloria Hunt and husband Charles, of Titusville, Fla.; a son, Jerry Clevenger and wife Beverly of Hartselle; a brother, L. J. Hatcher of McEwen, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
