Eva woman charged with theft
An Eva woman has been connected with a theft of a pair of earrings, which were stolen in December but were later sold for scrap.
Jessica Lavonne Oden, 36, of 158 Adams Road in Eva was arrested Feb. 2 and charged with theft of property in the second degree. She is in the Morgan County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
On Dec. 4, 2012, Ruth Easter reported the theft of a pair of earrings with a value exceeding $500. Detective Jonathan Lowery was assigned the case and determing that Oden was a suspect.
Lowery and Easter located the earrings at a local jewelry store, where the suspect allegedly had sold them for scrap.
On Feb. 2, Officer Larry Sharpley of the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division located Oden during a vehicle stop on Alabama 67. Ofc. Oden was placed under arrest for the warrant and booked her into the Decatur City Jail. Jessica was later transferred to the Morgan County Jail.
Theft of property in the second degree is a Class C felony.
