Falkville defeated Meek on Friday night at Decatur Heritage 53-40.

Falkville started the game on a 8-0 run. Clay Austill sparked the FHS offense with two 3-pointers in the opening minutes of the game. However, Meek quickly replied, finishing the first quarter down 14-6.

The Blue Devils were on top at halftime 22-15, and held the lead in the second half, outscoring the Tigers 14-10 in the third quarter, eight of the points coming from junior guard Travis Cole for Falkville.

Meek closed the gap on Falkville. With 4:20 left in the game, Canaan Smith hit a big and-one play, putting the Blue Devils ahead 46-32. Falkville would visit the free throw line several more times after that, which would secure the victory and a chance to play for the Area Championship.

Cole would lead the Devils with 14 points on the night. Aaron Estes had nine points and eight rebounds, Trevor Blackwood also added nine points. Clay Austill had eight, Canaan Smith managed five points and eight rebounds. Both Nate Drinkard and Hayden Blevins had four points.

Falkville will face Decatur Heritage at their place for the Area 14 Championship on Monday at 7 p.m.
