Falkville’s boys basketball team came up short of making the Class 1A Northwest Regional after falling to Marion County 77-55 at home Friday night.

Marion County started the game on an 8-0 run, but FHS (11-15) would not go down without a fight. The Blue Devils fought back as Travis Cole hit two 3-pointers from Trevor Blackwood assists, allowing Falkville to make a comeback going into the second quarter behind 18-15.

The beginning of the second quarter was a seesaw battle, but the FHS couldn’t slow the Marion County offense, as the Red Raiders built a 47-28 advantage going into halftime.

Falkville put up 14 points in the third quarter, 10 of which came from junior forward Aaron Estes.

Senior Clay Austill managed two treys late in the fourth quarter, but wasn’t enough to overcome the halftime deficit.

Estes led the FHS scoring with 16 points and seven rebounds. Travis Cole had ten on the night, Clay Austill managed eight, Trevor Blackwood had seven points and five assists. Canaan Smith had five and nine rebounds. Nate Drinkard finished with four points, Luke Randolph hit a trey and Hayden Blevins added two on the night.
