BHS student accused of writing gun threat on bathroom wall
A Brewer High School student was arrested Wednesday night after making a written threat to bring a gun to school on a bathroom wall, according to Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin.
Brandon Corey Smithson, 18, was charged with making a terrorist threat, a Class C felony. Smithson is being held at the Morgan County Jail. Bail will be set by a judge later today.
An employee of the board of education called the sheriff’s office after her son told her he was hesitant about going to school after reading something written on the wall in the men’s room.
Sheriff’s deputies and the Brewer school administration located the writing, which consisted of several lines from a popular song and ended with “p.s. I’m bringing a gun tomorrow.” The officers and administrators determined that Smithson wrote the message and was later arrested without incident.
