“I was impressed when I visited Jackson State,” said Madewell. “It’s a small school that’s strong on academics and also has a very competitive baseball program. I also liked the fact that it’s close to Memphis, Tenn. I’m thrilled to be going there and to have the opportunity to be a part of their baseball program.”

A member of the National Honor Society, Madewell said he plans to purse a career in either physics or engineering.

“Both are good athletes and hard workers,” said Priceville head baseball coach Shane Hopkins. “They’re close friends and have helped each other a lot by being very competitive on the playing field.

“Having two seniors sign college scholarships is a big boost for our pr0gram,” he added. “

“It gives the younger players extra incentive to work hard and continue to improve.”

“They’re both good athletes as well as good students,” Hopkins stated, “and I expect them to do well in college.”
