Lawrence County 9, Hartselle 2
A hitting slump continued to play havoc with Hartselle High’s Lady Tigers as they dropped their second game in a row to a hot-hitting Lawrence County High softball team, 9-2, at the Grady and Margie Long softball complex on Monday.
The Lady Tigers trailed 2-0 after one inning, 5-0 after three and 9-0 after five and were held hitless until the top of the fourth inning.
Hartselle scored its two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning following a one-out double by Sarah Ellen Battles. Ashley Boggs walked ahead of the hit and scored the first run. She later scored the second run on Baylee Holt’s fielder’s choice ground ball.
Other Hartselle hitters were Boggs, Taylor Wascavage, Holt and Tori Denslow with a single each.
Emily Lipinski took the loss for Hartselle. She was relieved by Kayla Faulk in the third inning.
