Hartselle JV sweeps Austin doubleheader

Hartselle’s JV swept Austin Thursday night at home to improve to 5-5 overall.

Tate Mathis led the way in the 5-0 win with two runs scored and a pair of doubles while Holden Langston and Jake Nelson were both 1-for-2. Nelson had two RBIs while Langston had one run scored.

Collins Hanners and Curtis Russell both drove in runs, with Hanners earning a stolen base. Cooper Wright was hit by a pitch and later scored a run.

Hartselle scored three runs in the first inning, giving Mason Towers all the insurance he needed to get the win. Towers allowed just two hits and two walks with six strikeouts.

Hartselle racked up 12 hits and took advantage of five Austin errors in an 18-1 win. Hanners went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base.

Mathis was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base. Nelson also had a hit, two RBIs and a run scored while Casen Wallace had a hit, two RBIs and two runs scored. Nic James added a hit, three runs scored and a stolen base.

Russell and Langston also drove in runs. Russell scored twice and Towers scored once. Rylee Wilson also had a hit. Austin Reed scored three times being a courtesy runner.

Wright allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks with one strikeout.
