Pickup driver injured when truck hits building
A former resident of Hartselle who now lives in Birmingham was injured Wednesday afternoon when the pickup truck he was driving rammed into the front of the Redstone Federal Credit Union in Hartselle.
Robert Sivley told Hartselle firefighters the brakes on his truck failed after entering the parking lot and approaching a parking space in front of the credit union, according to Hartselle Fire Chief Steve Shelton.
“He was complaining of pain in his back as first aid was being administered,” Shelton said.
Sivley was transported to Decatur General by an EMS Ambulance.
The mishap occurred at approximately 4 p.m.
The pickup sustained heavy damage to its front end while only minor damage was done to the brick walls it struck. Fortunately, the truck missed the building’s plate glass windows by about three or four feet.
Hartselle police officers investigated.
