Blue Devils win area games

Falkville’s Blue Devils hammered area opponent St. Bernard in back-to-back wins on March 13 and 14.

In the first game on the road, they won 12-0 on the strength of 10 hits.

The Blue Devils plated a run in the first, three each in the third and fourth and five in the fifth.

Falkville’s hitters were Tanner Evans with three, Ryan Bradford, Hunter Woodall and Colin Eason with two each and Tyler Woodall and Dallas Mayer with one each.

Bradford was the winning pitcher, allowing four runs in six innings.

In a return home game on March 14, the Blue Devils won handily, 15-1.

They scored four runs in the first and 11 in the second inning.

Tyler Woodall paced the Blue Devils at the plate with a double and single and five RBIs.

Alston Howard had a home run and two RBIs, Bradford had three hits, Hunter Woodall, Adam Keenum and Eason each had two hits and Nic Martin, Evans and Blake Bradford had a hit each.

Blake Bradford was the winning pitcher.

He allowed one run on one hit.

DHS 5, FHS 3

Danville took advantage of three Falkville errors and overcame four errors of its own to defeat the Blue Devils Saturday at home.

Tyler Fields got the win, allowing two earned runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings of work. Wesley Vest got the save, allowing one hit and one walk with a strikeout in two innings.

Alston Howard took the loss. He went four innings, allowed three earned runs on three hits and three walks. He also had five strikeouts. Tanner Evans scattered three hits and two walks in two innings.

Austin Clemens led the Danville attack with two hits. Fields drove in two runs on one hit.

Ryan Bradford was 2-for-2 with a run scored. Ryan Sullivan and Alston Howard doubled while Hunter Woodall tripled.

FHS 11, Tanner 5

Dallas Mayer struck out three to get the complete game win, allowing three earned runs on four hits and a walk.

Tanner Evans led the hitting with a 4-for-4 effort. He scored twice and drove in a run. Alston Howard and Adam Keenum had two hits apiece and drove in runs.

Ryan Bradford also added a double. Almost every batter for Falkville got a hit in the game and most of them either scored or drove in runs.
