City to add 63 parking spaces in downtown
The City of Hartselle has agreed to work with Morgan County District 2 Commissioner Randy Vest to pave a parking lot in downtown Hartselle for $86,825.
The lot is located next to the old Western Auto building and across the street from Van’s Barber Shop.
Department of Develop-ment Director Jeff Johnson said the city and county would be splitting the cost of the construction.
“Commissioner Randy Vest told us to send him the bills for the first $43,412.50 of the project,” Johnson said. “We would be responsible for all additional costs of the project.”
When completed, the project will add about 63 parking places in downtown. The lot would have paved entrances off of Main Street and Hickory Street.
Johnson said lighting would be installed to match the current street lighting in downtown Hartselle.
