Blackwood’s 10th HR lifts Tigers over Spanish Fort
Brett Blackwood’s two-run home run in the fourth inning gave Hartselle all the runs it needed in the Tigers’ 3-1 win over defending 5A state champion Spanish Fort during the Hoover tournament Monday.
Easton Chenault got on base with a leadoff double before Blackwood went yard for the 10th time this season. Chenault scored an insurance run in the seventh inning on Aaron Lamb’s RBI single.
Chris Brown and Daniel Conley also collected hits for the Tigers.
Jackson Smith earned the win with five shutout innings and four strikeouts. Deacon Aldridge recorded the save, allowing a hit and a walk in two-thirds of an inning.
The Tigers are currently playing Grissom at Hoover tonight.
