Lady Tigers win area opener

Hartselle’s Lady Tigers got off to a fast start in area competition by defeating West Point 10-0 in a road game March 20.

The win improved the Lady Tigers’ record to 10-7-1 on the season.

Baylee Holt paced the Lady Tiers at the plate with a double, two singles and an RBI.

Leah Stephenson had three singles and an RBI, Jada Hayes had a pair of singles and two RBIs and Emily Lipinski singled.

Hayes was credited with the win. She allowed only one hit while striking out seven and walking one.

Hartselle 6, East Limestone 1

Hartselle’s Lady Tigers overcame a one run deficit with a two-run burst in the bottom of the first inning and went on to defeat East Limestone’s Lady Indians 6-1 at the Grady and Margie Long Softball Complex on March 19.

Pitcher Kayla Faulk played a major role in the win. At the plate, she singled in her team’s first run to tie the score, added the go-ahead run and later added two doubles. On the mound, she allowed one run on six hits while striking our six batters.

Other Hartselle hitters were Baylee Holt with a double and single, Jada Hayes with a pair of singles and an RBI, Madeline Sittason with a single and two RBIs and Taylor Wascavage with a pair of singles.

Katie Suttles led the Lady Indians with a pair of singles and an RBI.
