Senior center attendees enjoy visit to restaurant
Among those from Falkville Senior Center eating at KFC in Hartselle on March 12 were Faye Anders, Thelma Bates, Patsy Clemons, Carol Cole, Dale Mason, Robert McCaig and Charles and Linda Williams. Also attending the luncheon were Judy McClellan Barbara Asherbranner, Vivian Summerford, Mavlyn Roberson, Shirley Sauter, Terry and Jeannie Kelsey, Bob and Linda Ball, Martha Garrison, Martha Asherbranner and the bus driver, Jackie Turney.
Orange balls
1 box vanilla wafers
3/4 cup coconut
1/2 cup frozen orange juice
1/4 cup powdered sugar
Crush wafers in a plastic bag and thaw orange juice. Mix all ingredients well, except powdered sugar. Roll into small balls. Roll balls in powdered sugar.
Cheese biscuits
1 pound American cheese
1/4 pound margarine
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup cool water
Cream cheese and margarine; sift dry ingredients. Add alternately with water to cheese mixture. Refrigerate for two hours. Roll out thin and cut out. Place in pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
Tomato sauce
1 can tomato soup
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 cup water
Combine all ingredients. Heat and stir. Serve on hamburgers or a meat loaf.
Cole slaw
4 cups shredded cabbage (red or green)
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon celery salt
Combine all ingredients and mix well.
