Girls youth softball season underway in Hartselle (with gallery)

Hartselle’s Youth Softball League got off to a fast start last weekend with approximately 250 players between the ages of five and 14 participating.

The league consists of five 6U teams, seven 8U teams, five 10U teams and four 14U teams.

Action began on Friday evening with the opening games featuring the 8U Warriors playing the Kryptonites and the 10U Crushers facing off against the Diamond-backs.

Eighth other teams in the same division also played. A full slate of games were scheduled for Saturday.

“Our numbers are down a little bit from last year, said Michael Crow, league president.
