HHS track team struggles at meet

Hartselle High School’s track and field team had only two of its members finish among the top 10 competitors in any event at the Homewood Invitational on Sat., March 30.

All-state sprint and jump star Quanesha Burks did not compete at the event.

In the girl’s division, Savannah Holmes came in eighth in the javelin throw with a distance of 91-05 and Billie Shelton finished ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.13 and 13th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 53. 25. Alley Orr finished in 11th place in the javelin with a throw of 84-05 and Taylor Barnett came in 11th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:40.62,

Mason McGee led Hartselle’s boys with an 11th place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.62. James Glenn came in 13th in the javelin throw with a distance of 134-05 and 18th in the discus with a throw of 113.08. Hunter Grantland finished 24th in the 100-meter dash and 25th in the 200-meter with times of 11.54 and 23.74, respectively.

The event attracted 48 teams.
