Jerry Leonard ‘Len’ Gibbs, Jr.

Funeral for Jerry Leonard “Len” Gibbs Jr., 60, of Eva will be Fri., April 5, at 1 p.m. at Eva Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Robinson, the Rev. Gary Driver and Bro. Dustin Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Oden Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Thur., April 4, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Gibbs died Tues., April 2, 2013, at his residence. He was born Fri., January 2, 1953, in Jefferson County to Jerry Leonard Gibbs Sr. and Kathryn Pruett Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs was a member of the Eva Baptist Church, Eva Lions Club, as a charter member, Alabama Angus Association and Morgan County Cattleman. He was a native of Oneonta and moved to Huntsville at an early age. He was a member of the charter graduating class at Grissom High School and attended University of Alabama-Huntsville, majoring in physics. Mr. Gibbs was an employee of the CMDS, PEO Missiles and Space, as a product director for Stinger and Avenger weapons systems.

He is survived by his wife, Athelia Woodall Gibbs of Eva; his parents, Jerry Leonard Gibbs Sr. and Kathryn Pruett Gibbs of Huntsville; two brothers, Cary Pruett Gibbs and wife Diane and Dale Lee Gibbs and wife Teresa, all of Huntsville; sisters-in-law, Joyce Woodall Whipple and husband Richard of Eva and Janice Woodall Goodsell and husband, Dave of Austin, Texas; two nephews, Andrew Stephen Gibbs and Brent Lee Gibbs, both of Huntsville; four nieces, Joy Elizabeth Gibbs and husband James Green of Huntsville, Emily Honor Gatlin and husband Scott Carlin of Austin, Texas, Townley Gatlin Steili and husband Brandon of Denver, Colo., and Courtney Lee Whipple of Eva; four great nieces; and three great nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation, 3601 CCI Drive, Huntsville, AL 35805.
