Hartselle boys win county soccer title

Hartselle High School’s boys soccer team grabbed an early 1-0 advantage and went on to defeat Decatur 4-2 in the championship game of the Morgan County Tournament at the Jack Allen complex in Decatur on Saturday.

Ian Cummings, Cameron Carlisle and Mitchell Warren scored goals for the Tigers.

Hartselle‘s girls team finished second in the tournament after losing to Austin 4-1 in the championship game.

The Tigers (11-4-3) grabbed the upper hand three minutes into the first half when Cummins scored on a short kick from the front of the net on an assist from Carlisle. They went up 2-0 on a goal by Carlisle with three minutes left in the first half. Warren set up the score with an assist.

The Red Raiders responded by scoring two straight goals early in the second half to tie the score at 2-2. Paxton Clemons scored the first goal with 36 minutes left in the second half and Carlos Carbajal scored the game-tying goal with 12 minutes left in the game.
