Civic center lights to be upgraded
Hartselle is receiving nearly $15,000 to upgrade lighting in Sparkman Civic Center’s two gymnasium.
Department of Development Director Jeff Johnson said the city is receiving a $7,487.89 grant from the Waste Reduction and Technology Transfer Foundation (WRATT) to help replace 39 of the 52 light fixtures in the two gyms.
The remaining 13 light fixtures will be funded by the TBA Lighting Replacement Incentive Rebate for a total of $4,984.
Johnson said new fluorescent fixtures will be more efficient than the 400 watt high pressure sodium light fixtures that it currently has.
“The lights will be much more energy efficient and they will much brighter as well,” Johnson said.
Johnson said the grant will come with no match from the city. However, the city will have to pay for the additional 13 fixtures up front before TVA will send a reimbursement for the cost.
