Commission approves Farm Services remodel

•Authorized $1,867 of the appropriation to the Juvenile Probation Office to be used to provide the local match for the Juvenile Accountability block grant.

•Approved payment of checks totaling $5,628,332.23 for the month of March.

•Approved a certificate to subdivide property for Donald C Hill, Mount Carmel Road, District 3.

•Authorized the following payments from the Tourism, Recreation and Convention Fund: Town of Somerville Celebration, $1,000; Hartselle Enquirer Progress Edition, $787,50; Decatur/Morgan County Convention & Visitors Bureau (fish fry), $2,500 and Special Olympics Torch Run, $1,500.

•Approved the appointment of Larry Ealey, Morgan County animal control officer, to inspect alleged state law violations to protect dogs and cats from any cruelty charged and to prevent any cruelty to any dog or cat in Morgan County.

•Adopted Fri., April 19, as “Cops on Top” Day in support of the Morgan County Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

•Authorized District 1 Commissioner Jeff Clark to make a $5,000 donation to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Morgan County, payable out of the District 1 Road and Bridge Fund.

•Approved the renewal of a maintenance contract with IBM on the AS400 for $2,141.42 per month.

•Approved payment of $3,947,75 to Traveler’s Insurance Co. representing deductibles on the following claims: Martha Humphrey, District 2, $3,291; Glenda Lockhart, Sheriff, $527.25; and Michael Winchester, Sheriff, $129.50.

•Approved payment of $6,402 to Harris, Caddell & Shanks P.C. for legal services provided to Morgan County departments in March 2013.

•Authorized the chairman to enter into a contract with the Alabama Department of Transportation for the replacement of a bridge on Wilhite Road at Flint Creek.

ATRIP funds totaling $818,860 will be used to help fund the project. Local funding amounts to $18,860.

The commission cancelled its next regular meeting on Tues., April 23, and adjourned to meet next on Tues., April 30, at 9 a.m.
