County placed under tornado watch until 7 p.m.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has placed Morgan County under a tornado watch until 7 p.m. Thursday.
Counties included in the watch are Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Colbert, Cullman, Dallas, Fayette, Franklin, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marengo, Marion, Marshall, Morgan, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston.
A line of potentially severe thunderstorms has developed in front of a sharp cold front. As the storms become better organized, the National Weather Service believes the area could see winds up to 60 mph, hail up to 1 inch in diameter and between 1-2 inches of rainfall with isolated heavier amounts.
The weather service said there is also a low potential “but not zero” potential for tornadoes.
All of Alabama has been placed under a slight risk for severe weather.
