Somerville has open council seat
The Town of Somerville is in the process of filling a vacant council seat following the resignation of one of its five members.
Place 2 councilwomen Tammie Frye submitted her resignation at a regular town council meeting Monday night with the mayor and other council members accepting her decision with regret.
Frye was serving in her second term after being re-elected last August without opposition.
City Clerk Regina Long said resumes of prospective appointees should submit their résumés at town hall no later than 4 p.m. on Fri., May 10.
State law empowers the mayor and remaining councilmembers to fill the vacancy by appointment within 60 days after the office becomes vacant. After that, the appointment will be in the hands of the governor.
