Hartselle gives up no runs in three games

Hartselle had a nearly perfect first day of the Morgan County Softball Tournament, outscoring their opponents in three games 27-0.

The Lady Tigers shut out Falkville and Brewer 10-0 in the first two games. In the nightcap, the Lady Tigers beat Brewer again 7-0. Hartselle will face Danville Saturday at noon.

Haley Jared racked up 10 strikeouts and allowed just two hits and three walks while pitching five shutout innings against Falkville. She also drove in a run at the plate.

Baylee Holt and Kayla Faulk both went 2-for-3 with an RBI each. Holt also scored twice. Sarah Ellen Battles got the scoring going with a solo home run in the first inning.

Jada Hayes had two RBIs and three runs scored on one hit and one walk.

For Falkville, Paige Garner had a double and Lyndsey Moore added a single. Cheyenne Wilson took the loss and  lasted just two-thirds of an inning. Bailey Anders got two strikeouts in relief.

In the first game against Brewer, Kayla Faulk struck out seven and only allowed two Brewer hits in a 10-0 win.

Taylor Wascavage hit a solo home run, drove in another and scored again. Battles, Madeline Sittason, Holt and Faulk had the other Hartselle hits.

Brewer also committed five errors in the game. Alyson Thomas and Morgan Childers got the only hits for the Lady Patriots. Morgan Wilson took the loss.

In the nightcap, Jada Hayes rang up 12 strikeouts as the Lady Tigers shut out Brewer again, this time 7-0.

She allowed just three hits and one walk on the night. She was also 1-for-3 at the plate with one RBI.

Jared and Holt led the way with two hits and one run scored apiece. Holt also drove in two runs and hit a triple.

Sittason drove in a pair of runs while Faulk drove in another. Emily Lipinski also scored a run.

Wilson took the loss again, but only four of the seven runs were earned. Ashley McMinemon, Felicia King and Breanna Tillman got the three hits for Brewer.
